There is a variety of sight seeing attractions to check out. Within 5 minutes you can visit Barrio's Beach, Lady Of Grace Shrine in Monastery or grab some snacks, alcohol or gas at the Petro Canada station also in Monastery. There is a small fishing harbour just up the road as well . The area is know for a significant eagle population and you can see many photos in our main house gallery starting in Mid-August, 2018.

While you are here, enjoy the beautiful sights of the local countryside and visit Antigonish, a 20 minute drive & home of St Frances-Xavier University. You can take in a round of golf and feast at the local restaurants and farmers market. Antigonish is considered the cultural center of the Northern shore of Nova Scotia and is well known for its fine crafts, visual arts and fabulous festivals. Come enjoy our Highland Games, the Riverside Speedway races, the KitchenFest, Stan Rogers Festival, Broad Cove Festival and the many community suppers and activities on offer. Explore shops and art galleries to view limited prints, crafts, one of a kind pottery and paintings by well-known Canadian artists such as Mi’Kmaq artist, Alan Syliboy.

Outdoor Adventures in Antigonish

The Antigonish area has some beautiful beaches. Relax on Pomquet Beach Provincial Park located north east of Antigonish, with its beautiful dunes and occasional sand bars and be sure to stroll along the boardwalk. Tee off at the Antigonish Golf Club, a par-72, 18-hole golf course designed by Bob Moote. Discover local artisans and fresh local fare at the Antigonish Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings. Go walking along the popular Antigonish Landing Trail which weaves alongside the Antigonish Harbour estuary where you will see osprey, eagles, and ducks in this natural wildlife sanctuary.Thrill seekers should explore the Keppoch Highlands which are a series of trails designed for downhill mountain biking, cross-country mountain biking and hiking. Car racing fans won’t want to miss the action at Riverside International Speedway which hosts a number of racing and special events each year including being the only stop in Atlantic Canada for the NASCAR Pinty's Series

Pictou, the ferry entrance to PEI is just down the road from Tatamagouche, home to a great local brewery and the award wining Jost winery.

10 minutes across the Canso causeway and welcome to Cape Breton! In Port Hawksbury there are free concerts every Sunday evening during July and early August on Granvville Green. Take a full day to drive the Cape Breton coastline, Add another full day to see the Bras d'ore lakes (part fresh and part salt water), the Graham Bell museum, and the Fortress at Louisburg. Most folks think they need at least 3 more days to see all the sites on the island.
